The National Environment Management
Authority (NEMA)
NEMA was established under the Environment Management and Co-ordination Act
(EMCA) of 1999, which came into force on 14th January 2000. The Authority,
which is a government parastatal, became operational on 1st July 2002. The
Authority was established for the purpose of supervising and
co-coordinating all matters related to the environment and be the principle
instrument in the implementation of all policies relating to the
environment in Kenya. Global environmental concerns, which evoke agenda 21,
or the Global Plan of Action, address the pressing environmental problems
of the 21st Century and reflect the global concerns and political
commitment on restoring our environment and achieving sustainable
development.

ACMAD is located in Niamey. Niger Republic. Its objective is to contribute
to sustainable development in different socio-economic sectors in the
continent of Africa through investigations of meteorological and
climatological domains. The main activities are short and medium range
weather forecasting, climate watch, seasonal forecasting, and training of
African meteorologists in new techniques and technologies. Acmad is
composed of 53 member states, the 53 countries of the continent of
"Africa".

The main objective of the SADC DMC is to carry out climate monitoring and
and prediction for early warning and mitigation of adverse impacts of
extreme climatic events on agricultural production, food security, water
resources , energy, and health among other socio-economic sectors. Since
the centre's inception, it has played an important role in providing the
sub-region with weather and climate advisories and more importantly, timely
early warnings on droughts, floods and other extreme climate related
events.
