management and environmental issues are comprehensively reported and
analysed on scales that transcend State and Territory boundaries.
National SoE reporting is carried out at a continental scale on the
land and for coastal and marine environments, and includes Australia's
external territories. The environment is covered in seven major themes:
Atmosphere, Land, Inland Waters, Coasts and Oceans, Biodiversity, Human
Settlements, and Natural and Cultural Heritage.
International
Greenhouse Partnerships
International Greenhouse Partnerships is a cooperative effort by
Australian industry and government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
through projects overseas. An International Greenhouse Partnerships
Office has been set up within the Department of Industry, Science and
Resources to promote and implement the program and provide policy
advice on the project-based Kyoto mechanisms.
Greenhouse Science
The Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) is the scientific bureau within the
department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry - Australia (AFFA).
BRS provides scientific advice to AFFA on the effects of changes in
land use, forest, agricultural and pastoral management on carbon
sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions.
Cooperative Research Centre for
Greenhouse Accounting
The CRC is an unincorporated, independent collaborative research and
development venture between nine prominent Australian institutions. It was
established in 1999 for seven years under the Commonwealth Government's CRC
Program. Our administrative head office is located in our Canberra

The Australian Institute of Marine
Science
The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) was established by the
Commonwealth government in 1972 to generate the knowledge needed for the
sustainable use and protection of the marine environment through
innovative, world-class scientific and technological research.
Centre for Resource and Environmental
Studies (CRES)
CRES of the Australian National University Institute of Advanced Studies
in Canberra is an interdisciplinary research and postgraduate training
centre focussing on resource and environmental issues at local, national
and global scales.
Institute for Sustainable Futures
(ISF) at the University of Technology, Sydney
The Institute for Sustainable Futures works with industry and the
community to develop solutions leading to sustainable futures through
programs of research, teaching and consultancy. The Institute is developing
four major interrelated programs or themes which focus on a significant
urban, national or global problems. Each program has a multidisciplinary

science. CMAR’s research effort is structured into four major
themes: Climate, Weather and Ocean Prediction; The Living Atmosphere;
Marine Ecosystems and Resources; and Integrated Coastal and Oceans
Management.
Sharing
Knowledge
This site focuses on the impacts and adaptation strategies for
Indigenous Australian communities living in northern Australia. Here
you can find information on climate change projections for regional
areas in the north as well as suggested direct and indirect impacts
that may occur as a result. We are also compiling resources (reports,
web links, data sets) on relevant issues so you can find out about what
is happening in Australia and overseas.
Australia Institute

entailed, which CEARS has recognised and fostered in building a network of
national and international collaborators in the pursuit of its goals.
