Umweltbundesamt
The Umweltbundesamt is the expert authority of the federal government in
Austria for environmental protection and environmental control. The
Umweltbundesamt is the only expert institution in Austria that deals with
all areas of environmental protection.
Austrian Council on Climate Change
(ACCC)
The Austrian Council on Climate Change (ACCC) was founded in 1996. It is
an interdisciplinary working group consisting of 11 members from the areas
of economics, science and technology, which aims to determinate and
evaluate measures relating to the prevention of Global Climate Change.
Institute of Sustainable Techniques and Systems
The Institute provides the expertise required for this purpose by
developing sustainable production technologies based on renewable raw
materials and selectively deploying ecologically efficient
environmental technologies aimed to minimise pollution.
Institute of Energy Research
Using energy wisely – both on a small and large scale – is
the key focus of the Institute of Energy Research. Long-term energy
management and policy is based on reducing specific energy demand and
increasing the use of renewable energy sources. The studies on the
problem of “energy and climate change” elaborated at the
Institute and the resultant suggestions with regard to reducing
greenhouse gas emissions are in great demand among policy makers at the
national and international level.
ARC Seibersdorf
research
The ARC Seibersdorf research GmbH is the largest Austrian contract
research enterprise with about 500 employees. ARC offers services in the
field of applied-oriented research and technology development as well as
technology consulting - with a broad, interdisciplinary catalogue of skills
and specific know how building the base of this.
Environmental Planning
Department
The activities of the Environmental Planning Department cover the full
range of conceptual environmental research. Methods and models are used
as tools for the development of a system-based environmental protection
strategy. The results of our research support policy decision-makers in
the public and business sectors.
ARC systemsresearch
Inter- and transdisciplinary research allows us to analyse complex systems
and to understand their development dynamics. In addition to addressing
basic research issues – often in partnership with universities
– we also explore possibilities of using new knowledge. Our research
is based on joint learning processes involving our clients from industry,
politics and public administration. Conceptual environmental research
ranges from systemic environmental analysis and evaluation to the
development of concepts and strategies for sustainable development.
Austrian Energy Agency
The Austrian Energy Agency is a non-profit energy research and policy
institution. Its mission is to promote rational use of energy and a
stimulation of renewable energy sources and of innovative technologies. The
Austrian Energy Agency is located in Vienna (Austria) and it is member of
the European Energy Network - EnR.
Wegener Center for
Climate and Global Change (WegCenter)
Researchers from different Institutes at UniGraz, both at the natural
and the socio-economic sciences side, have over the last decade
achieved significant competences in various fields of climate and
global change research. Building on this heritage, and recognizing the
potential of putting the diverse climate-related activities under one
umbrella, the UniGraz has started, with support by the City of Graz,
the WegCenter as an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented
research center.
Institute for Meteorology and
Geophysics
The Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics of the University of
Innsbruck has a long tradition in polar research, starting in the
middle of the last century. Research was done in both the northern and
the southern polar regions: On the large ice sheets of Greenland and
Antarctica, on Svalbard glaciers, on the sea ice of the Arctic Ocean
and the Weddell Sea, and on most major ice shelves, from Larsen Ice
Shelf, Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf, Ekström Ice Shelf to the Ross Ice
Shelf.
Factor 10 Institute (Austria)
The Factor 10 Institute (Austria) was founded in 1997 under the name
"Society Factor 4+" as a non-profit association. The F 10 Institute
cooperates closely with the F10-Institutes in France and in Switzerland
Austroclim
Gesundheit“ fortgesetzt.
Human Dimensions Programme Austria
Das Austrian Human Dimensions of Global Change Programme koordiniert die
sozial-, wirtschafts-, rechts- und humanwissenschaftliche Forschung zu
Global Change in Österreich. Es hat zum Ziel, diese Forschung zu
