    AMBIO, was founded in 1972, the year of the first UN Conference on the Environment which was held in Stockholm, Sweden. The journal is a nonprofit publication of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. AMBIO addresses the scientific, social, economic, and cultural factors that influence the condition of the human environment. It is widely recognized as an important international forum for debate on these issues.

    Content of the journal ranges from the applied to the theoretical. In general, papers should cover topics relating to the ecological, political, and social foundations for sustainable social-ecological systems. Specifically, the journal publishes articles that present research findings on the following issues: (a) the management, stewardship and sustainable use of ecological systems, resources and biological diversity at all levels, (b) the role natural systems play in social and political systems and conversely, the effect of social, economic and political institutions on ecological systems and services, and (c) the means by which we can develop and sustain desired ecological, social and political states.     A major environmental journal, CR invites papers on all aspects of climate phenomena and their effects on life. CR articles are made freely accessible online 4 years after publication.
  • International Journal of Climatology
    The International Journal of Climatology is published 12 times a year by the Royal Meteorological Society in conjunction with John Wiley and sons. Its main role is to report and stimulate research in climatology. The journal encompasses global and regional studies of climate, local and microclimatological investigations, changes of climate (past, present and future) and the application of climatological knowledge to a wide range of human activities.

    Sustainability: Science, Practice, & Policy is a new peer-reviewed, open access journal that provides a platform for the dissemination of new practices and for dialogue emerging out of the field of sustainability. The e-Journal fills a gap in the literature by establishing a forum for cross-disciplinary discussion of empirical and social sciences, practices, and policies related to sustainability. Sustainability will facilitate communication among scientists, practitioners, and policy makers who are investigating and shaping nature-society interactions and working towards sustainable solutions.

    In March 1995 the Foundation Joint Implementation Network (JIN)JIN published the first issue of the Joint Implementation Quarterly (JIQ) which was presented at the first Conference of the Parties in Berlin. Since the third Conference of the Parties held in Kyoto in 1997, JIQ has extended its original focus on Activities Implemented Jointly (AIJ) to include the three Kyoto Mechanisms: Joint Implementation (JI), the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and International Emissions Trading (IET).
  • CIESIN Kiosk
    CIESIN, through the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has created this Kiosk as an interactive electronic forum to facilitate information sharing in support of SEDAC's mission. The Kiosk promotes open discussion in several areas but invites focused deliberation on SEDAC's two primary applications tasks, listed below. The Kiosk further encompasses unpublished papers on more general subjects and provides access to an electronic bookshelf that contains working papers and reports that, while previously published, are less accessible.

  • GCRIO Bibliographic Databases
    GCRIO provides access to bibliographic databases that enable a user to identify relevant documents and publications based on free-text searches of the title, abstract, and keywords. GCRIO maintains its own bibliographic database which consists primarily of information on global change-related documents published by US Federal Agencies and Organizations. In parallel, some Agencies maintain their own bibliographic database, and in an effort to minimize any duplication of effort, GCRIO simply provides links to those agency databases. Finally, GCRIO also provides links to other non-Federal bibliographic systems.
  • Pacific Institute’s Water and Climate Bibliography
    This Bibliography is a comprehensive database of scientific literature pertaining to climate change and freshwater resources worldwide. The current version contains 3600 entries, and we anticipate updating the database on a regular basis. Abstracts are searched and displayed where available.
  • WINDandSEA: The Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences Internet Locator
    This locator was built in response to the many reference questions that are posed to the library and is meant to make Internet searching more efficient for the NOAA community, the academic community, other government agencies concerned with oceanic and atmospheric issues, and the general public. Presently WINDandSEA has over 1,000 selected links to science and policy sites organized by topic and alphabetically within topic. All of these sites have been reviewed and annotated by NOAA Central Library and NOAA Regional Libraries staff.
